Who runs this, and how we make money off you

Both halves of that sentence matter, so here they are.

Who

calgary.bid is run by Ox One Consulting Inc., a Calgary company. One person builds and operates it. There's no editorial team, no panel of judges and no reviewers, because there's nothing here that would need any.

The conflict, stated plainly

Ox One also sells websites and marketing to Calgary businesses. Some of the companies listed on this board are the kind of business we'd like to work with, and being listed here puts you on a list we can email. If that bothers you, say so and we'll take you off the board and never contact you. It costs you nothing either way.

What that conflict does not do is move anyone up or down. Rank is the monthly payment, in one line of code, and you can read it: the source for this whole site is public.

Where the money goes

15% of everything collected goes to the Calgary Food Bank, with receipts posted quarterly. The rest pays for the domain and a Cloudflare bill of a few dollars a month, and whatever is left is profit. Current totals are on the numbers page.

What we do with your details

Free listings come from business information that's already public. If you bid, we keep your name, email and phone so we can invoice you and tell you when someone outbids you. We don't sell any of it to anyone. Ask and we delete it.
