Positions 1, 2 and 3 on every board are sold, ordered by what each business pays per month, highest first. That's the whole thing. There's no review score, no editorial judgement and nothing weighted behind the scenes.
Pay a dollar a month more than whoever is in it. The price is printed on the board, so you're not guessing. If someone outbids you we email you the same day with their number, and you get 24 hours to match it before the spot changes hands.
Under the paid positions we list every business in that trade we can verify works in Calgary. Alphabetical, free, and whether they asked to be there or not. They aren't ranked against each other. If you're listed and something's wrong, or you want off the board, email us and it's done that day.
15% of everything we collect goes to the Calgary Food Bank. The running total is on the front page and we post the actual receipts here every quarter. If a quarter goes by and there's no receipt, email us and ask why.
Businesses holding a paid spot get a badge for their own site. It says what it is.
It will never say "best", and you can't present it as an award or a rating. That's a condition of holding a spot, not a suggestion.
